Ellis County reports on COVID-19 updates as they are received from the State of Texas from the Texas Health Trace Platform (THT). In order to uphold transparency, today’s report includes corrections made by the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) in the case line lists received from the State. These corrections include removing duplicated cases, removing case counts that were outside the county’s jurisdiction, and adjusting cases to the appropriate city jurisdiction. This dashboard will be updated as additional information is received from THT.

Important note regarding the DEATH COUNT: Tonights report includes an update regarding the total COVID-19 death count as recorded by the State of Texas for Ellis County. To date, Ellis County has reported on COVID-19 related deaths as they are distributed locally through the Texas Health Trace platform by the Texas Department of State health Services (DSHS). This platform has outlined multiple discrepancies in comparison to the DSHS online dashboard. DSHS has now directed local jurisdiction to utilize a distributed Fatality Data MOU - which includes all COVID-19 deaths as of 03.15.2020 - to report on COVID-19 related deaths locally. In the future, DSHS has announced they expect to transition to only reporting newly reported deaths. The estimated lag time between the date of death and the appearance of the death within the fatality data file averages 2 to 3 weeks. The update below includes this new reporting format.
