Do I need a permit to build in Ellis County?
Permits are required for ALL new structure/addition, septic system or any modification to an existing structure or system. If you have any questions on whether a permit is required, you can reach us at 972-825-5200.

Development Permit:
• Any activity on property requires a permit. (i.e., pools, sheds, ponds, tanks, shops, barns, carports, residential/nonresidential structures, accessory buildings, etc.)

• Cost: see Fee Schedule for updated fees. New fees will take effect on December 1, 2017.

• Requirements: Signed application, deed, survey, Driver's license, and professional-quality drawing of the proposed improvement.

• Requirements: Minimum lot size is one (1) acre, 150 feet of County or State road frontage
