[ARCHIVED] RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM MONDAY TO 9 PM TUESDAY FOR ELLIS COUNTY AND SURROUNDING AREAS

Red Flag Warning

From the National Weather Service, a RED FLAG WARNING has been issued for the following Counties - Montague-Cooke-Young-Jack-Wise-Denton-Stephens-Palo Pinto-Parker-Tarrant-Dallas-Kaufman-Van Zandt-Eastland-Erath-Hood-Somervell-Johnson-Ellis-Henderson-Comanche-Mills-Hamilton-Bosque-Hill-Navarro-Freestone-Anderson-Lampasas-Coryell-Bell-McLennan-Falls- Limestone-Leon-Milam-Robertson from 10 AM Monday to 9 PM CDT Tuesday August 21, 2023.

This RED FLAG WARNING is for LOW HUMIDITY, MODERATE WINDS, AND DROUGHT STRESSED VEGETATION.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that extreme fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and dry vegetation can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Avoid all outside burning and welding today. Do not toss lit cigarette butts outside. Report wildfires to the nearest fire department or law enforcement office.

* AFFECTED AREA...All areas along and west of the I-35 corridor or along and south of I-20.

* TIMING...10 am to 9 pm Monday.

* WINDS...East 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph in the afternoon.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 20-25 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Around 105 degrees

* IMPACTS...Rapid ignition and spread of wildfires is possible due to persistent hot and dry conditions.

ELLIS COUNTY IS UNDER A BURN BAN AT THE PRESENT TIME.
