“38 Total Cases of COVID-19 in Ellis County”

April 06, 2020 – The Ellis County Local Health Authority has confirmed six additional cases of COVID-19 in Ellis County. This increases the countywide total to 38 cases of COVID-19.

Further, this includes an 86-year-old resident of Legend Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation located in the City of Waxahachie. After a change in the resident’s condition, she was discharged to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Waxahachie, where she is currently in hospital isolation.

Please see the latest statement issued by the City of Waxahachie:

“The Legend Oaks Facility is working with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services and following all guidelines and protocols. City and County officials and Emergency Management personnel are working with this facility and monitoring the situation closely, and offering assistance when needed. The City is currently assisting in acquiring additional personal protective equipment (PPE) for this facility.

If more information regarding this situation becomes available, the City of Waxahachie will provide that to the public. In the meantime, we are asking everyone to please remain home unless necessary, and work together to do our part and prevent the spread of this virus.”

This Ellis County “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on April 30, 2020.
